1 lakh Jammu Division students sensitised on Value Education, Child Protection

JAMMU, AUGUST 05: In pursuance to the monthly counselling calendar of Directorate of School Education Jammu, Over 1 lakh students of Government Schools of Jammu division were sensitised about value education and child protection in both the Summer and winter zones in the month of July.

Values like Patriotism, Truthfulness, Empathy, Love and Kindness were deliberated upon during the month. Mass awareness was spread regarding child protection and safeguarding them from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect of any kind.

The POCSO act was transacted by faculty counsellors through various programmes. The Students were also sensitized about the POCSO Act. Faculty counsellors working in counselling cells conducted a series of activities viz role plays, dramas, lecture and puppet demonstration, poster making, storytelling etc to impart these themes to students.

In the beginning of the month, virtual session was organised by counselling cell DSEJ to discuss calendar activities.

Dr. Romesh Kumar, IC Counselling cell, DSEJ and Dr.Alka Sharma, Member Counselling Cell were the key resource persons. Besides activities conducted by students and faculty counsellors, four virtual sessions were organized on the theme Value education and child protection as a part of weekly programme "Aao Baat Karein".

Eminent experts from the field including Dhiraj Sonar from HEMA foundation, Dr Geetanjali Kumar from Aakar Well being Centre, Dr. Raajiv Sharma, CEO NDF, Advocate Meenu Padha were resource persons. Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma appreciated the efforts of Team Counselling Cell DSEJ, DCCs, ZCCs and faculty counsellors for carrying forward different initiatives of the Directorate in a planned manner.

He stressed on the need for value based education which lays a strong foundation for healthy society.

Dr. Romesh Kumar, Incharge Counselling Cell DSEJ, called upon all the teachers to integrate value education in the subjects they teach and requested the stakeholders to work in liaison with CWC, JJBs, Vaatsalya, Social Welfare Department for ensuring safety and security of students.

Pertinently Counselling calendar themes are transacted in the schools every month by teacher counsellors to offer group guidance to the students about various psychosocial issues.
