Central government announces 20 smart cities in 1st round; J&K  yet to nominate One city

NEW DELHI, Jan 28: Centre government on Thursday announced the list of cities which have bagged the smart city tag under the Centre  government’s flagship mission.

The 20 cities include Bhubaneswar, Pune, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Jabalpur, Visakhapatnam, Solapur, Dhavangiri, Indore, New Delhi Municipal Corporation, Coimbatore, Kakinada, Belgaum, Udaipur, Guwahati, Chennai, Ludhiana and Bhopal.

As many as 97 cities were in the race to secure funding in the first round of the smart cities challenge.

Centre had announced the ‘100 smart cities ’, Jammu and Kashmir is  yet to nominate one city that can be taken up a Smart City.
