Bengaluru, Nov 29: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested a Regional Officer of the Central Board of Film Certification and two others in an alleged bribery case of Rs 12,00.
The arrests come two months after Tamil actor Vishal levelled bribery charges against Central Government officials in a different case
In the present case, the arrested have been identified as regional officer Prashant Kumar and two private persons Prithvi Raj and Ravi.
According to the CBI, a case was registered against Prashant on allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000. It was further alleged that the accused later reduced the bribe amount to Rs 12,000 for issuing a Censor Certificate after rectification of a minor issue related to a subtitle in a movie which was directed and produced by the complainant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while he was accepting the bribe from the complainant.
A search was conducted at the premises of the Regional Officer which led to the recovery of Rs 3,00,000 in cash.
