JKP committed to provide support to martyrs’ families: DGP

JAMMU, JANUARY 09: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid has said that Jammu and Kashmir Police, after giving supreme sacrifices of its jawans and officers, succeeded in bringing peace and order in the State and it is the responsibility of the Organisation to provide succour to the martyr’s families.

Dr. Vaid said that the force, braving all odds, has faced the challenge of terrorism in the State successfully to ensure rule of law and safeguard the integrity of the Nation. All ranks of the force fought the menace collectively, enabling setup to work for the betterment of people of the State. In this fight against terrorism, our valiant cops offered sacrifices of their precious lives for secure future of the Nation and it is now our prime responsibility to take care of the families of these martyrs. The department have initiated various welfare measures to lessen the miseries of these families, besides promoting the education of their wards, said Dr.Vaid.

DGP said this, while announcing scholarship of more than Rs. 5.6 lacs in favour of 77 wards of martyrs. He said that quality education to the police wards is our concern and different scholarships are granted to the police wards to encourage in the field of education. Besides financial assistance, hostel facilities are available for the martyr’s wards in the Police Public Schools at Srinagar and Jammu. Students, who excel in the academics are also given coaching to enter the professional competitions, said the DGP.

Dr. Vaid disclosed that the scholarship is granted out of Central Police Education Fund which is contributory and the wards studying in different classes are entitled for this solace to continue their academics. He said that the department is committed to provide all possible assistance for the upliftment of martyr’s families.
