NEW DELHI , Sep 22: As part of its reform agenda, the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet today gave further one year extension of tenure beyond 03.10.2026 to Dr Raghav Langer IAS, as Secretary of National Medical Commission & Joint Secretary in Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Goverment of India.
Medical Education sector has been witnessing landmark changes, expansion of capacity & deregulation.
Academic Year 26-27 has seen sanctioning of additional 44 medical colleges in the country increasing the tally to 863 recognised medical colleges/institutions with an annual intake of 1,43,414 seats in MBBS & 68275 seats in PG (including 72 standalone PG institutes).
As per details with Cross Town News , UT of Jammu & Kashmir also got sanction of 175 additional seats in MBBS (totalling to annual intake of 1750 seats) for the current academic year, with son of the soil at the helm of affairs in the country’s statutory body.
NMC has been focusing on various digital initiatives to bring in transparency including the flagship PAN India Unified Registration Portal for seamless generation of NMR and to ensure smooth mobility of doctors.
