
MUMBAI: Team India on Monday defeated England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by an innings and 36 runs to win the five-Test series 3-0. This is Virat Kohli’s 13th win as Test captain of India putting him only behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly and Mohammad Azharuddin.
This is India’s fifth consecutive series and with this series win they have also regained the trophy they lost in 2014.
Resuming the day at 182/6, England were bowled out for 195 to hand the hosts a comprehensive innings and 36-run win. R Ashwin picked up his second five-for of the match, and the 24th of his career, to make sure the match was won in the first half hour of the fifth day’s play.
