Dy CM reviews functioning of JMC Dr Singh for launching beautification drive in Jammu city

JAMMU, Nov 23: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to launch extended beautification drive in the winter capital and ensure that the people to get of the Jammu city get all the requisite civic amenities. 

The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the review meeting, convened at JMC headquarters to discuss the functioning of the Corporation and also review the pace of development works being executed by the Corporation. 

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister said it is the responsibility of the JMC to maintain the distinct historic character and environs of the Jammu city. He asked the Corporation to constitute a team of officers to check illegal constructions in the Municipal limits and take legal action against the violators. 

Regarding Jammu Smart City project, the Deputy Chief Minister asked JMC to create a special cell in the Corporation for the purpose and seek feedback from the public on how to prepare Jammu for the Smart City Competition.

The Dy CM asked JMC to construct 50 bus queue shelters at various places in the City and a Parking Lot at Peerkhu under AMRUT programme for the benefit of the general public. 

Reviewing the status of pending building permission cases, Dr Nirmal Singh directed the concerned to work with utmost dedication and dispose all the pending cases immediately strictly as per the rules. 

The Deputy Chief Minister also asked JMC to install digital flexes across the Jammu city highlighting the welfare programmes of the Government.  He also called for creating awareness about various schemes and programmes of the Corporation among the general masses so that maximum people get benefited. 

The meeting was informed that the JMC has constructed 33 community toilets across the Jammu city while 10 mobile toilets are also being provided in the City.

The Dy CM also interacted with the JMC staff and inquired about the problems, if any, being faced by them in the discharge of their duties.

Commissioner JMC, Sardar Manmohan Singh and other officers of the Corporation were present on the occasion.
