SRINAGAR, AUGUST 22: Minister of Finance, Culture, and Labour and Employment, Dr Haseeb Drabu today ordered a review of the employment generating units set up under various state and centrally sponsored schemes in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Drabu reviewed the performance of a number of schemes offered the J&K Government and the Centre to the educated, unemployed youths of the state.

He directed the officers of Labour and Employment Department to submit sector-wise report on thousands of employment generation units which have been set up under these schemes to promote entrepreneurship in the state.

Calling for a wholistic reorientation of the Department in accordance with the changing employment trends, Dr Drabu asked the officers to prepare a blueprint, linking the state's public expenditure policy with the employment policy.

"There is a need to change the modalities of some of the schemes whose results are promising so that much larger areas and populations in Jammu and Kashmir can be covered and benefitted," Dr Drabu said.

The Minister directed the officers to revise some of the schemes including the Youth Start Up Loan Scheme. The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Planning, Development & Monitoring Department Mr. B.B. Vyas and top officers of Labour and Employment department.
