Speaker orders improvement of drainage system in Trikuta Nagar

JAMMU, AUGUST 06- Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Saturday directed the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED)  to undertake immediate improvement of drainage system in Trikuta Nagar area to prevent further damages to the lanes due to monsoon rains.

 During his visit to the area, the Speaker directed for immediate realignment and repair of breaches in the local Nallah which causes much damage to residential houses during rainy season.

The people of the area demanded construction of concrete Nallah with 90 degree angle slope to prevent the drain water to spill over in the locality during heavy rains. The people complained that the partially concrete nallah has become a constant problem for them when it overflows and water enters into their houses.           

The Speaker gave a patient hearing to the issues of the people and assured that their all genuine demand would be addressed soon.           

Later, he released two DVDs based on devotional songs of Chandi Mata at a function organised by Nami Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with Maa Chandi Parivaar and Bhagya Lakshmi Charitable Trust. The religious album contains the devotional composed by famous local musician  Arvind Kumar.           

Among others, Convener of the Sanstha, Captain Lalit Sharma, Vice President All India Bhagat Maha Sabha, Bodh Raj Bhagat, Organising Secretary of Sanstha, Dr. Chanchal Sharma and Secretary of the Sanstha Arvind Kumar were present on the occasion.           

The Speaker applauded Nami Dogri Sanstha for providing platform to the folk artists of the state and called upon the youth   to come forward and contribute their bit in preservation of rich Dogra culture.

 Underling the need for promoting and preserving the local languages, he appealed the younger generation to speak Dogri in their homes as it is their mother tongue. He also appreciated the efforts of the Sanstha towards preserving the rich Dogra heritage and culture by promoting local folk music, dance and plays.          

Arvind Kumar also sung a devotional song of his first Chandi Mata`s album on the occasion.
