KATHUA: E-Foundation stone for the construction of Sh. Arun Jaitley Memorial Sports Complex at Hira Nagar, Kathua laid down by Dr. Jitendra Singh - Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) MOS Ministry of Development North Easter Region, Prime Minister Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance’s and Pension, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Sh. Kiren Rijiju - Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and MOS in Ministry of Minority Affairs, Sh. Manoj Sinha Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Union Territory of J&K in presence of Sh. Farooq Ahmed Khan - Advisor to Hon’ble Lt. Governor and other Dignitaries.
Sh. Arun Jaitley Memorial Sports Complex will be one of the best and State of the Art Sports Complex which includes Multiple Sports facilities of International/National Standard at one place. It will not only cater in the Hiranagar area but to whole J&K and India. It will be built up with an estimated cost of Rs.58.23 Crore under PMDP scheme. The project consists of various components viz synthetic Athletic track, Synthetic Hockey field, synthetic turf football ground, Multipurpose Hall, Swimming pool, Cricket ground, Skating rink, Tuck Shops, Boxing Rink, Boundary Wall, Illumination of Stadium, Electric Sub Station and landscaping of area.
Sh. Farooq Ahmed Khan - Advisor to Hon’ble Lt. Governor presented the welcome address and Highlighted the silent features of project through a power point presentation from Raj Bhawan Srinagar in presence of Sh. Manoj Sinha - Hon’ble Lt. Governor. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor extended his gratitude to Union Government for this auspicious project and has also assured its timely completion, while stating that J&K will be known for the development instead of other things.
Sh. Kiren Rijiju - Hon’ble MOS While appreciating the development of Sports activity in J&K has said that “J&K Sports Council is the best in the Country and has extended full support for its endeavor”.
Dr. Jitender Singh - Hon’ble MOS while dedicating this stadium for the public of Hiranagar paid rich tribute to Late Sh. Arun Jaitley, recalling his stalwart leadership. He reiterates that Sh. Arun Jaitley has quality of many personalities at one time and has always admired his guidance. The family members of Late Sh. Arun Jaitley were also connected through video conference. Dr. Singh stated that this stadium will not only boost the sports culture but also the morale and economy of the area. Keeping in view its vicinity with the border.

Y.S.S Deptt J&K, Shri Naseem Javaid Choudhary (KAS) - Secretary J&K Sports Council, Shri O.P Bhagat - Deputy Commissioner Kathua, B.D.C Chairman, Political Leaders and others. A cultural activity highlighting the dogri culture were also presented which enthralled the audience.
