Sonia Gandhi expresses deep sorrow over loss of lives in Kashmir; says loss outcome of failure of State Govt. Administration

SRINAGAR, July 11: Expressing serious concern over the current instability and innocent killings, Congress today offered heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their dear one during the protest erupted in valley. The Party appealed the people especially youth to shun violence and maintain calm, as the violence won’t serve any purpose rather it will have serious implications on the safety of people, besides damaging the atmosphere of peace.

Urging Party cadres to provide every help to injured persons, Congress asked the party-men to visit injured people in hospitals and donate blood in order to ensure their proper treatment, besides providing them every help they require at this critical juncture.  

The Party in an urgent meeting held in Srinagar which was presided over by JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir and attended by Senior Party Functionaries and Legislators, blamed the Coalition Govt of mishandling the situation resulting in killing of dozens of innocent youth and injuring more than 200 people, besides causing severe damages to the properties.

Earlier, AICC President Smt. Sonia Gandhi talked to G.A. Mir on phone and expressed her serious concern over the killings and damages caused to property.  Terming the loss of precious lives as very unfortunate Congress President sympathized with bereaved families.

Condemning the use of force that lead to the ugliest situation in South Kashmir and elsewhere, the Party expressed serious concern over the loss of precious lives besides injuries to morethan 200 people and lamented the fact that losses could have been avoided had the State Govt taken immediate measure to control the mobs, but unfortunately Govt has not been able to bring the situations under control, party said.

Accusing the Administration for mishandling the situation, the Party stated that State Govt should have taken the timely measures to avoid innocent causalities, but that did not happen, the failure of the Administration cost precious lives besides causing severe damages to properties.

Castigating the PDP BJP Coalition Govt for failing to ensure safety of the people, Congress termed the present situation as an outcome of utter failure of the Coalition Govt on all fronts and sought clarity from the Govt and administration as to why the Govt  could not control the outburst, Congress questioned?

Seeking Cooperation from the people especially young blood, the party called for peace, besides appealing people to maintain clam and help to restore normalcy. The Party also appealed them not take law in hands, as the violence is not going to help anyone rather it will cause more damages and disturbances.

Urging the Govt to provide every assistance to Tourists stranded at many places, the party demanded that State Govt must ensure safety of Tourists & Minorities in the Valley and make them feel comfortable.

Minister Raman Matto, Sr. Leader G. N. Mir Lasjan, Manzoor Ahmad Ganie  District Presidents Zahid Hussain Jan, Ab. Qayoom Shah, G. A. Gujree, Secretaries Abid Kashmiri, Irfan Naqib and other party functionaries
