 Transport Commissioner Owais Ahmed  reviews implementation of J&K Subsidy Scheme

 
Jammu, Nov 23 Transport Commissioner, J&K, Dr. Owais Ahmad, reviewed implementation of J&K Transport Subsidy Scheme today at Transport Commissioner Office, Jammu.  Officers of the Transport Department and Bank Authorities were present in the meeting to discuss the modalities for phasing out of old buses aged above 15 years. 
 
During the meeting the RTOs were directed to set up mechanism at all ARTO offices to collect the applications of beneficiaries. The Banks were requested to set up kiosks at RTO office Jammu and Srinagar to facilitate the beneficiaries to process the loan cases of the owners on priority basis and in a transparent manner
 
The Transport Commissioner, J&K emphasized that the objective of the scheme is to provide impetus to the public transport by providing subsidy of Rs 5 Lakh to the transporters for replacing more than 15 year old buses and introducing new fuel efficient buses compliant to BS-IV and above norms. He said that this will not only ensure availability of efficient public transport to the citizens but will also curb the menace of pollution caused by old vehicles.  .  
 
He said that an advertisement notice inviting applications from the operators shall be published by the Motor Vehicles Department in all the leading newspapers of the UT of J&K to submit requisite supporting documents within a period of 10 days in the offices of RTO Jammu / Kashmir & Kathua.  
 
Among others, Joint Transport Commissioner, Gurmukh Singh, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, RTO, Kathua,  Dhanantar Singh, RTO, Jammu, Akramullah Tak, RTO Kashmir, Swarn Singh, Assistant Transport Commissioner, J&K and officers of Punjab National Bank, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank, J&K Grameen Bank, J&K Bank, State Bank of India also attended the meeting.
