Health Minister attaches Dy. CMO  for dereliction of duties

KISHTWAR, MAY 01- Acting tough on the poor performance and dereliction of duty, Minister for Health & Medication Education, Bali Bhagat today attached Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, Dr. Mohammad Fareed Bhat in the office of Director Health Services, Jammu with immediate effect.

While reviewing the  functioning of health department in Kishtwar district today, the Minister found serious  lapses on the part of Deputy CMO while discharging his duties which necessitated action against him. He cautioned functionaries of the department  to improve functioning and performance, failing which strict action will be taken against them.

During  maiden review meeting of the district, the Minister called upon the Block Medical Officers and other field functionaries to provide best services to the patients of this far-flung district,adding that  Government  is taking all requisite steps to ensure availability  better and improved medicare facilities to the people. He said the department is associated with the noble mission to serve ailing people   and all those associated with it must maintain its credibility by treating the patients politely and with missionary spirit. He said Government  is fully aware of the  difficulties being  faced by the doctors and para-medical staff in the rural areas and necessary steps will be taken to address these in a phased manner.

He ordered immediate detachment of  staff  attached in various health institutions on frivolous grounds and directed the CMO to withhold salaries of such employees who are not rendering any work. He also directed the CMO to conduct frequent field visits to monitor the functioning of the health institutions besides ensuring on spot redressal of public issues.

To ensure  supply of quality  medicines and food items in the district, the Minister directed the Food Safety Officers to undertake regular drive to check the menace of selling sub-standard items.. He also stressed for generating mass awareness in the district regarding  quality of food and medicines.     

The Minister called upon all the head of the institutions to ensure sanitation in and around the hospital, which he said is pre-requisite in improving the healthcare . He also directed for maintaining proper inventory of medicines, other articles and make optimum use of the available resources and infrastructure for the patient care.

While reviewing the progress of National Immunization Programme in the district, the Minister stressed for hundred percent coverage in every nook and corner to achieve its real objective. He directed the Chief Medical Officer and officers of the Family Welfare Department to chalk out a well-knit strategy well in advance to make this nation-wide campaign a grand success.

Earlier, the Minister also paid visit to District Hospital and took stock of its functioning. He issued necessary instructions for further streamlining its functioning and improving the sanitation of wards and toilets.

Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, G.N. Balwan, Director Health Services,  B.S. Pathania, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev Sharma, Managing Director, J&K Medical Supplies Corporation, Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, SSP,  Sandip Wazir,  CMO, Dr. S.P. Gupta and other senior officers of the health department were also present on the occasion.
