Bukhari Launches Scanning, Digitization Of Land Records At Mhafiz Khana Gole Gujral; Says Preservation, Protection Of Age Old Land Records A Must

JAMMU, APRIL 19: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today launched the scanning and digitization work of land records at Mhafiz Khana Gole Gujral here.

Similar, scanning and digitization work of land records at Mhafiz Khana Bemina in Srinagar would commence from 23rd April, it was informed.

 Financial Commissioner Revenue, Commissioner Settlement, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Director Land Records and Survey Jammu besides other senior officers of the Department were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Revenue Minister said that preservation and protection of age old revenue records besides settlement operation in the State was priority of the Government. In this regard, he said Government has activated the Revenue Department to complete the task of digitization of land records in a time bound manner. The whole operation has been taken up under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DLRMP).

Bukhari said “in the 1st phase, digitization of land records and settlement operation would be completed in Srinagar and Jammu Districts besides scanning of land records would be completed in all Districts of the State”.

The Minister said State government has already submitted an Action Plan of Rs 374.75 crore to the Union Government for approval. To start the operation under the 1st phase, Union Government has approved Rs 45.54 crore.

He further added that the digitization and settlement process in other districts would be completed in phase 2nd and 3rd and it is expected that the entire exercise of digitization and settlement operation in the State shall be completed by year 2021-22.

The Minister said that this job has been entrusted to RAM TeCH Software Agency New Delhi by the Government. He said instructions have also been passed to all State government authorities to provide requisite support to the Agency, enabling them to complete the task at the earliest.

 The Minister said operation will cover computerization of mutations, digitalization of maps and integrated textual spatial data besides updating all survey and settlement records. 

He hoped that computerization would ensure better land record management, minimize land disputes and enhance the overall land record maintenance system in Jammu and Kashmir.

He described settlement operation as fundamental in the land management system adding that meticulous preparation of Records of Rights not only facilitates resolution of land disputes but also reduces them considerably.

The Revenue Minister exhorted upon the officers to adhere to the timeline of settlement targets and contribute in the preparation of reliable revenue records in the State.
