Fatehpur, Oct 09: ARTO Administration Ranjit Singh and Clerk (Lipik) Shubham Singh suspended following allegations of illegal extortion at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The actions follow a joint surprise raid conducted on September 3, 2026, by the Additional District Magistrate and Additional Superintendent of Police along with a team of 50 police personnel.
The raid exposed a racket where applicants were being fleeced for vehicle registrations and driving licenses.
Officials caught four suspected middlemen (touts) on the spot and recovered ₹35,240 in cash along with discovering discrepancies between online transactions and physical cash records.
Based on a detailed report compiled by the District Magistrate of Fatehpur, the Transport Ministry took strict disciplinary action.
Clerk was initially suspended in September, followed by the suspension of ARTO Administration Ranjit Singh on October 8, 2026.
Both officials are now facing a formal departmental disciplinary inquiry and are subject to a vigilance probe regarding corruption and deep-rooted irregularities in the office.
