Heavy Damage to Crops and Vegetables Due to Rain, Storms and Hailstorms in Jammu Region; Sukhnandan Choudhary Demands Compensation from Central Government and Lieutenant Governor


JAMMU, Oct 09: Farmers across the Jammu region have suffered significant damage to their crops and vegetables due to rain, storms and hailstorms. The natural calamity has severely affected their hard work and livelihoods, causing considerable financial losses.

In view of the situation, Sukhnandan Choudhary has urged the Central Government and the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, to provide adequate compensation to the affected farmers. Sukhnandan Choudhary said that adverse weather conditions in various parts of the Jammu region have damaged standing crops and vegetable cultivation.

Farmers had worked tirelessly to prepare their crops, but the natural calamity has dealt a major blow to their efforts and expectations. He stressed that providing timely relief to affected farmers should be a priority for the government. He appealed to the Central Government and Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha to deploy special teams to conduct an early assessment of the damage in the affected areas.

He further demanded that farmers be provided with fair and adequate compensation based on the actual losses suffered. He also called for expediting the relief process so that farmers can recover from the financial difficulties caused by the damage. Sukhnandan Choudhary stated that farmers are the backbone of the country's economy, and their livelihoods depend on agriculture. Crop losses caused by natural disasters directly affect the financial stability of farming families.

Therefore, he urged the government to take their concerns seriously and implement timely measures to safeguard their interests.

Concluding his appeal, Sukhnandan Choudhary urged the Central Government and the Jammu and Kashmir administration to take immediate steps to provide relief and appropriate compensation to all farmers affected by rain, storms and hailstorms.

He emphasized that timely assistance would help farmers overcome this difficult situation and resume their agricultural activities.
