BHOPAL, Sep 16:As a part of PIB Media Tour , Team from Jammu visited Bhojeshwar Temple, located in Bhojpurtown of Raisen district , which is 28 km from Bhopal, is 11th-century temple architecture in India.
Bhojeshwar Temple houses one of the tallest shivlings in the world.
The Tempel was commissioned by Raja Bhoj, this incomplete temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is renowned for housing one of the largest Shiva Lingams in the world, carved from a single stone.
The temple, was built without mortar, is a masterpiece of early medieval engineering and stone craftsmanship.
The Temple is surrounded by the Betwa River .
Again there are striking similarities with Jammu and Kashmir , as many sites in Jammu and Kashmir can also be promoted on Similar lines , as J&K figures many Places like Shiv Khori, Parmandal , Utterbehni which have similar touch and heritage aspects.
Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 45 kilometers from Bhopal, is prehistoric cultural landscape reflecting early human life and artistic expression.
Bhimbekta was Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003 and comprises over 700 rock shelters of which approximately 400 contain prehistoric paintings dating back nearly 30,000 years.
The site was discovered in 1957-58 by archaeologist Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar.
Madhya Pradesh Government continues is promoting destination as part of its broader heritage tourism offering.
The rock shelters illustrate a wide range of subjects, including hunting scenes, communal activities, animal depictions, and ritual practices, which were executed using natural Colours.
Bhimbetka is also notable for its cultural continuity, with traditions observed in nearby villages showing similarities to motifs found in the rock art, reflecting an enduring link between prehistoric and present-day communities.
The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka are open year-round, with October to February offering the most favorable climatic conditions for visits.
