Mumbai, Sep 03: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a Junior Engineer and an employee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 60,000 rupees from a bakery owner.
During the operation, the ACB also recovered 2.78 lakh in cash from the BMC employee's possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Junior Engineer Neerav Kumar and municipal corporation employee Vijay Ramesh Patil. Both worked at the BMC office in Andheri West, Mumbai.
The complainant runs a bakery business. He stated that Vijay Patil had demanded a bribe of 70,000 rupees from him. In return, he assured that the bakery would be allowed to operate without any hassle.
Additionally, no administrative action would be taken against him.
