Central Govt orders 'One Officer, One Official Car' rule to curb misuse

Central Govt orders 'One Officer, One Official Car' rule to curb misuse

NEW DELHI , July 28: The Central Government has introduced a 'One Officer, One Car' rule, barring senior bureaucrats from using more than one official vehicle even if they hold additional charge of another ministry, department, PSU or autonomous body.

The Ministry of Finance's Department of Expenditure has directed all ministries to strictly follow the revised guidelines.

The order also prohibits central government officials from keeping vehicles belonging to PSUs or autonomous bodies at their disposal, except while on official duty or tours.

Any unused government vehicles must be kept in safe custody.

The move aims to prevent misuse of official vehicles, improve utilisation and reduce unnecessary government expenditure.

The revised rules have been circulated to all Union ministries and departments for immediate compliance.
