Jaipur, July 23: Following, the department had received a complaint on the 181 portal, the Food Safety Department has seized 90 kg of cashew pieces at Jaipur's famous restaurant Chokhi Dhani.
During inspection, it was found that the packaging of the pieces did not have manufacturing and expiry dates. Meanwhile, samples of cooking oil and mawa were also taken.
Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner Dr. T. Shubhamangala said, ''The TPC (Total Polar Compound) of refined soybean oil being used for frying potatoes at Chokhi Dhani was found to be 31 percent compared to the prescribed maximum limit of 25 percent.''
Dr. T. Shubhamangala said, ''This falls under the unsafe category for health according to food safety standards. A sample of this oil has been sent to the State Food Laboratory for testing.

'During the inspection, the team also found the quality of cashew pieces being used in vegetables to be suspicious. Neither the manufacturing date nor the expiry date was written on its packaging.
Considering this a serious irregularity, the team seized approximately 90 kg of cashew pieces (9 containers) from the spot. Apart from this, samples of khoya (milk solids) being used were also taken.
All samples are being sent to the State Food Laboratory. If the test report shows that the food items do not meet the standards, then action will be taken against the concerned establishment as per rules under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
Legal action will also be taken in cases of providing misleading information in packaging and labeling.
