DC Kishtwar directs to prepare a district-level roadmap for drug control by March 31, 2026

Kishtwar, March 29:  A crucial meeting of the District Level NCORD (Narco Coordination) Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar,. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), in compliance with the directions issued by the Union Home Minister in the Apex NCORD Meeting to prepare a District-Level Roadmap for Drug Control by March 31.

The meeting was convened by the Nodal Officer NCORD, Sh. Tariq Parveaz Qazi (JKAS), and witnessed active participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from various local NGOs.

During the deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive and result-oriented approach to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.

He directed all concerned departments to collaboratively prepare a district-level roadmap for drug control by March 31, 2026, outlining preventive, enforcement, and rehabilitation strategies.

Local NGOs shared valuable inputs and on-ground insights, contributing to the formulation of an inclusive and practical action plan. Their role in awareness generation, community engagement, and rehabilitation efforts was particularly highlighted.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to adopting a multi-pronged strategy involving strict enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and support systems for affected individuals.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to strengthen coordination among all stakeholders to effectively combat the menace of drug abuse and ensure a healthier and safer society in Kishtwar.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Sh. Naresh Singh (JKPS), PO ICDS Kishtwar Dr. Rishi Kumar Sharma, ACD Kishtwar Sh. Manoj Kumar, Dy. CEO Kishtwar Sh. Masood Ahmed Qazi, BMO Kishtwar Dr. Anil Sharma, NO ATF Kishtwar Dr. Hariss, MVI Robin Parihar, besides representatives from GDC Kishtwar, NGOs, and other concerned officials.
