Ex-IAS Officer among 5 suspects of Gurdwara murder case

Chandigarh, March 29: Police filed a case against Sarvjit Singh from Tarn Taran district in Punjab, and Amarjeet Singh from Bilaspur in Uttar Pradesh, who have been identified as prime suspects and booked on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy for the killing of dera kar sewa pramukh of Nanakmatta gurdwara, Baba Tarsem Singh, early on Thursday morning.

Three others have also been named in the FIR including Harbans Singh Chugh, former IAS officer and the head of the gurdwara management committee of Nanakmatta Sahib.

The other two who have been named are Pritam Singh Sidhu, vice-president of Terai Sikh Mahasabha and Anoop Singh, chief jathedar of Shri Har Govind Singh Gurdwara at Ratanpura in Uttar Pradesh.

The case was filed after a complaint was filed by Jasveer Singh, a jathedar of the dera. Meanwhile, Tarsem Singh's last rites were conducted at the Doodh Wala Kuan in Nanakmatta Friday.
