Hanjura declares open inter-district Martial Art championship Says Govt committed to upgrade sports infra in JK

SRINAGAR, Oct 01Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura has said the government is committed to upgrade the sports infrastructure and promote sports activities in the State adding that several initiatives have already been taken in this regard. He said special focus is being given to develop the existing sports infrastructure.

The Minister was speaking at a function after declaring open the inter-district State Level Martial Art Games 2015 open at Chrar-e-Sharief stadium today. As many as 9 districts of the State including Jammu and Kathua are participating in the championship. 

The Minister said that efforts are afoot to develop playing field in every village of Chrar-e-Sharief constituency. In this regard, Mr. Hanjura directed the Youth, Services and Sports (YSS) officers of district Budgam to conduct survey of the constituency and identify the land for the purpose and prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRS) and submit the same to the concerned quarters for arrangement of funds.

Responding to the demand of establishment of YSS Hostel in Chrar-e-Sharief, Mr. Hanjura assured that the matter will be taken up with the Government on priority.

The Minister thanked the YSS department for organizing such event in Chara-e-Sharief Constituency and directed them to organize more and more sports events in district Budgam in near future. He said talent is present among the students of the State but need is to explore the same so that the youth are able to compete at State, national and international levels. He asked the players to hone their skill and shine the nation and region of the State.
