JAMMU, Jan 31: Minister for Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today informed the house that 202 lecturers/ demonstrators have been engaged from time to time in various polytechnic colleges in the state.
Replying to a clubbed question by Sofi Yousuf, Surinder Mohan Ambardar and Saif-ud-Din Bhat in the upper house, the Minister said that 24 polytechnic colleges are functioning in the state. He said the sanctioned strength of lecturers and demonstrators is 402 of which only 74 posts are filled which include 65 lecturers. He said that due to establishment of new polytechnics in the uncovered districts, most of the incumbents were engaged on academic arrangement basis and some of these are continuing on court orders.
He said some of the incumbents working on academic arrangement basis in the department from 10-15 years are continuing on court orders adding that currently there is no proposal for regularization of these academic arrangements on the pattern of adhoc , contractual appointees .
The Minister said that the department is in process to refer vacant posts of lecturers and demonstrators to the concerned recruiting agencies for filing up the vacant posts.
