Several innovative steps taken to boost Agriculture productivity in JK: Hanjura


          JAMMU,Jan 30:Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone today told the Legislative Assembly that Government has taken several innovative measures to boost the agriculture sector in the State.

          Replying to a question by Ravinder Raina in the House, the Minister informed that under  different interventions of flagship programmes of Government of India like PMKSY, PMFBY, distribution of HYV seeds, mechanization through different farm machineries, adaptation of organic farming, motivation of farmers to adopt new technologies for cultivation of crops, bringing more areas under cash crop like vegetables and potato seeds and establishment of new units of apiculture and mushrooms are the steps taken towards future planning to promote agriculture production in the State.

          Elaborating on the initiatives taken in Nowshera constituency, the Minister said two schemes namely Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) and Parampragat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) are under implementation in the area. An area of 21 hectares in the area has been brought under these schemes, he said.

The department has also distributed quality seeds of different crops including wheat, pulses, oilseeds, fodder, maize, paddy etc amongst the farmers as per their requirement. Besides, the department has also provided different agriculture equipments to the farmers during the last two years as per the demand," added the Minister.
