DGP pledges full support to specially-abled sportspersons; Honours medal winners


 

JAMMU, JANUARY 20: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid has pledged full support of JKP in augmenting sports facilities for the specially-abled sportspersons in the State.  

Dr. Vaid was speaking at a felicitation function organised by J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra and J&K Blind and Para-Judo Association.

On the occasion, the DGP honoured medal winners of 5th National Blind and Deaf Judo Championship that was recently held at Gurgaon Haryana.

Appreciating the efforts of J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, State Sports Council and J&K Blind and Par Judo Association for their selfless efforts in supporting the specially-abled sports person, DGP assured all support in building sporting careers of talented special sports persons. He also assured all logistic support to the proposed holding of the national Deaf Judo Championship to be held at Srinagar later this year.

Dr. Vaid, directed Wushu Coach from JKP, Kuldeep Handoo to coordinate with the Para Judo Association and Sports Council under Civic Action Programme.

Former ADGP, S. S. Wazir, former Member PSC, Kulbushan Jandial, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu, Ranjit Kalra and President of J&K Blind and Para Judo Association, H. N. Raina besides other concerned were present on the occasion.

Earlier, S. S. Wazir, Ranjit Kalra and Roshan Bhan, Principal Hearing Handicapped School briefed the DGP about the activities of the event.

The persons who were felicitated included Vivek Singh, Nabeel Ahmed Dar, Rakshanda Mehak, Gunakshi Palvi, Ajaz Ahmed, Rukaya Bano, Shikha, Shubam Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Sahil Kumar.
