
Jammu, January 17:Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has deeply condoled the sad demise of veteran Congress leader and former MLA Shri Baldev Raj Sharma who passed away last evening. Shri Sharma suddenly felt some problem late in the evening and was shifted to the Govt. Medical College Jammu where he breathed his last.
Sharma represented Ramgarh Assembly Constituency from 1972 to 1977 and was one of the pioneer of the cooperative movement in the state right from the early 70 and held several important assignments . He was founder Chairman of J&K Cooperative Housing Federation. He was unanimously elected as chairman of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank besides remained sole Director from the state for three consecutive terms to the apex Cooperative Institution in the Country – NAFED.
Paying rich tributes President JKPCC Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir expressed deep shock over the sad and sudden demise of Shri Baldev Raj Sharma and described him a committed leader of the party who was liked by one and all because of his humbleness and dedication to the party and service of people. He remembered his great contributions in the field of cooperative movement and to the Congress party and people of the state. He conveyed deep sympathies to the bereaved family members on behalf of entire rank and file of the party and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Several senior leaders have expressed deep shock over the sad demise of Shri Sharma and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the family. They included Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Dharam Pal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra, S. Gurmukh Singh, Madan Lal Sharma, Tara Chand, Taj Mohiuddin, Sheikh Haider, Th. Hari Singh, Prakash Sharma and Swarn Lata.
Senior PCC functionaries also deeply condoled the sad demise of Shri Sharma and prayed for peace to the departed soul. They included S/Shri Sham Lal Sharma; CLP Leader N.
