JAMMU, June 25: J&K Police has been adjudged among the best-performing police forces in India for their exemplary contribution to passport verification services for the year 2024-25 & the recognition was conferred by the Ministry of External Affairs during the celebration of Passport Seva Divas, commemorating the enactment of the Passport Act, 1967.
The event was graced by Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and attended by senior MEA officials, representatives from 37 Passport Offices, dignitaries from various Government departments and officials from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The J&K Police stood out for finalizing an impressive 1,34,219 passport application verifications between April 2024 and March 2025. This outstanding performance reflects the department’s exceptional disposal rate and unwavering commitment to timely service delivery, a critical element in the passport issuance process.
A Certificate of Recognition was presented to the J&K Police by the Minister of State for External Affairs. Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Deputy Inspector General, CID, received the award on behalf of the J&K Police.
The accolade underscores the relentless efforts and professionalism of the officers and personnel of the CID and Police Departments, who worked diligently, often beyond the call of duty, to ensure quick, transparent and efficient processing of passport verifications.
Officials remarked that this national recognition is not only a proud moment for the police force but also a matter of immense pride for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
