Nagpur, Sept 19: A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation executed searches at residence of a woman teacher in Narendra Nagar area. This operation came following the registration of an offence by CBI New Delhi.
The operation was initiated in connection with a bribery case involving private persons and unknown officers from Bridge and Roof Company (India) Ltd.
The CBI officials seized many incriminating documents from the woman’s residence who works as a teacher in Thakkar School in Nagpur.
The investigation revealed that Shashank Kumar Jain, a private person based in Kolkata, acted as a middleman, collaborating with Somesh Chandra, Veer Thakkar, and Rajiv Ranjan in orchestrating bribes from private contractors which include Hetalkumar Pravinchandra Rajyaguru of Rajkot, Gujarat.
The bribes were intended to influence the awarding of tenders by Bridge & Roof Company.
The suspects were allegedly involved in ensuring that Rajyaguru secured a tender for construction of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Odisha by providing insider information and manipulating the bidding process.
Further investigation revealed a web of corruption, with the accused planning to distribute a significant portion of the tender value as bribes to officers of Bridge & Roof Company, themselves, and Shashank Kumar Jain.
The CBI received information that bribe money had already exchanged hands through various means. As the case unfolds, there is a strong likelihood that the demanded bribe amount or undue advantage will be delivered to Shashank Kumar Jain on September 15.
A case has been registered against all the accused under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 7A, 8, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 & further investigation is on.
