BANDIPORA, Sep 22: A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad in his Office Chamber, here.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on strict enforcement of Traffic rules, conduct of awareness activities and other road safety related measures. He also stressed on effective implementation of measures to make the roads safe for travelling and minimizing road mishaps.
The DC directed the concerned to improve road markings and signages to eliminate high risk stretches and improvement of junctions on all cross-roads. He also directed the concerned to educate the masses about the road safety rules and encourage the public to adopt road safety measures.
Dr Owais asked traffic authorities to carry out special drives and take stern action against the violators.
He directed officers of MC to mark zebra crossings on various spots for the safety of pedestrians.
The meeting was attended by ARTO Bandipora Bilal Ahmad Mir, DyCEO Bandipora Mohd Rafiq Parray, ExEn PMGSY, EO MC Bandipora, Representatives of Beacon, Traffic Police and other concerned departments.
