Shillong, Sept 19: Additional SP (Traffic) East Khasi Hills, Lovish Garg was seriously injured after being hit by a scooty.
According to police, Police were conducting naka checking at Urkaliar near Samkhamti petrol pump when a scooty with two males tried to evade checking and sped aggressively despite being signalled to stop.
To prevent their escape, Garg intervened.
Instead of stopping, the rider accelerated and rammed the officer, causing serious injuries.
He was rushed to Woodland Hospital and shifted to the HD Unit.
A case for an attempt to murder is being registered.
