JK Elections: CEO visits district Samba, overviews ongoing exercise of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls


SAMBA, SEPTEMBER 15: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu & Kashmir, Hirdesh Kumar today visited district Samba and took detailed overview of the ongoing exercise related to Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls which began after a gap of three years across Jammu and Kashmir.

The CEO was accompanied by District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Samba, Anuradha Gupta; Joint CEO, Anil Salgotra; Deputy DEO, Divakar Khajuria; EROs, AEROs besides others officers.

During the visit, the CEO interacted with students of Government Higher Secondary School (HSS), Vijaypur who are prospective voters.

CEO laid emphasis upon educating students on basic electoral processes which are the foundation of Indian Democracy.

Further, the CEO stressed on organizing special assemblies for imparting electoral knowledge among students in Schools. Hirdesh Kumar also visited HSS, Jakh and interacted with local public at Polling Stations located in school.

During the interaction, the CEO highlighted that the claims and objections can be filled in both online as well as offline modes.

He also inspected various polling stations located inside the HSS. Interacting with different stakeholders and officers, the CEO exhorted upon them to fully participate in the revision exercise in order to ensure maximum number of eligible voters are enrolled in the electoral rolls.

While interacting with the Booth Level Officers (BLO’s) of polling stations located in HSS Vijaypur & HSS Jakh and their AERO, EROs, the CEO emphasized on facilitating unregistered youth as well as general public by way of house to house campaigning and providing them all the support including stationary as well as necessary guidance for filling of various forms.

CEO directed that blank Forms 6, 6A, 6B, 7 and 8 should be made available with all the BLOs. CEO directed election officials to create maximum awareness among local public through various SVEEP activities related to special summary revision and ensure that the claims and objections are disposed off within the time limits as prescribed by Election Commission of India.

The CEO also highlighted that Special camps have also been announced in the UT of J&K on 24 and 25 September and 1,2,15 and 16 October.

During the interaction, District Election Officer, Samba informed the CEO that district Samba is now having three Assembly Constituencies, having total electorate of 225900, including 117297 Males and 108603 Females.

He also informed that the total number of polling stations in Samba is 358 while as the draft roll Elector to Population (EP) ratio is 0.52 in Samba.
