JAMMU, JANUARY 01: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today asked the engineers to work on architecture and landscaping of colleges to make them aesthetic to inspire students.
The Minister was speaking to officers during the daylong inspection of ongoing developmental work in Jammu city.
The officers who accompanied the Minister included Chief Engineer R&B Jammu Alok Mengi, Executive Director JKPCC Nayeem Ahmed, General Manager JKPCC N.D Khawaja, SE PWD Jammu circle Sudhir Shah and other officers of department.
During the inspection of Cluster University Jammu, the officers informed the Minister that three buildings and a canteen which are in final stage of construction for School of Social Sciences Department at a cost of Rs 3 crore will be completed in month’s time. Later the Minister also visited School of Social Sciences which is coming up at GGM Science College and asked the officers to expedite the work.
The School of Sciences is being constructed at a cost of Rs 27.70 crore and will house Administrative Block cum VC office, Central library building, canteen, classrooms and auditorium.
Mr Veeri inspected the construction of 200 bedded Govt maternity Hospital Gandhi Nagar and asked the officers about the status of physical work and electrical work, water supply and sewerage treatment plant. The hospital is coming up at a cost of Rs 50 crore. He directed the executing agency to ensure that the prestigious project is completed in time.
The officers apprised the Minister that construction of the hospital is going on in full swing and DPR will be followed strictly.
Mr Veeri also visited the construction of 300 meter Pre-stressed double lane bridge over Nikki Tawi coming up at a cost of Rs 30 crore. The bridge will provide succor to the inhabitants of 45 villages. The deadline for the completion of bridge was set for May 2017, however the engineers apprised the Minister that it will be motor-able by March 15 this year.
Asking the officers to pace up the work on 4th bridge on River Tawi which had got damaged during the flashfloods of September 2014, the Minister setup a deadline of February 15 this year for its completion.
The Minister also inspected the mega parking facility at New Court Complex Janipur Jammu which has come up at cost of Rs 2.75 crore. The parking facility can accommodate 400 cars and 100 two wheelers at a time.
