Two Kashmiris arrested for conspiracy, transportation of suicide bombers in Sunjwan encounter: ADGP


Jammu, April 23: Two Kashmiri residents were nabbed in connection with the Sunjwan encounter that left two suicide bombers of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit dead.

Addressing a press conference, Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh said with the killing of these two suicide bombers, another Pulwama-type attack has been averted as these terrorists were planned to carry out fidayeen attacks in Jammu.

One of the arrested persons told police that the slain terrorists were Pashto-speaking either from a village in Pakistan bordering Afghanistan or from Afghanistan itself, Singh told reporters.

Addl DGP Mukesh Singh further said that during the course of investigation of FIR & on the basis of technical analysis, succeeded in effecting the arrest of a person namely Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh, resident of Mir Mohalla, Tral, who had facilitated the stay of terrorists in Jallalabad area of Jammu.

On the basis of his disclosure, one person namely Mohd Iqbal Rather, son of Abdul Rehman Rather, resident of Ahahmadabad near Mosque DH Pora, Malwan, Kulgam in whose residence at Jallalabad, the terrorists had hidden themselves also detained.

The analysis of the mobile tower as well as the internet data usage of the general area led to suspicion on a person by name of Bilal Ahmed Beig, son of Khursheed Ahmed Beig, resident of Kokarnag, Anantnag, who had received the terrorists on the border and brought them to Jallalabad area, which were further received by Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh.

Mukesh Singh added that Shafiq Ahmed Sheikh further revealed that his brother Asif Ahmed Shiekh helped in finding a place for accommodation of terrorists as well as provided mobile phones to the terrorists.
