Smart classrooms will help improve educational standards: J&K Govt

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 20 - Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today laid thrust  on developing smart classrooms in all educational institutions and promoting use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education.

Priya Sethi said this during her visit to the Government College for Women, Parade where she took a detailed appraisal of the infrastructural and educational facilities available to the students.

The Minister directed the college administration to make use of a diverse set of technological tools and resources including computers, the internet, broadcasting technologies (radio and television) and telephony to communicate and disseminate information among the students.

The Minister said the virtual environment created by the use of ICT will provide a platform for free exchange of knowledge and experience and will extend the reach of research collaborations internationally besides providing additional stimulus to facilitate learning in students.

Reiterating government’s commitment to upgrade the education infrastructure in the state, the Minister directed the college administration to submit a project proposal for renovation and up-gradation of the college campus and hostel complex at the earliest so that immediate measures can be taken up. She also asked them to include provision for creation of an e-library parallel with the existing library and a girls common room as part of the hostel complex into the planned proposal.

The Minister, taking serious view of the need for maintaining a clean and healthy physical environment in the educational institutions, directed the administration to take utmost care in this regard. She further directed the concerned to immediately auction off junk accumulated within the college premises like irreparable, broken pieces of furniture etc.
