Demonetization: DDC Kathua Meets Bankers

KATHUA, NOVEMBER 17: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting with representatives of various banks to raise awareness about demonetization among people.

During the meeting, the DDC said that adequate steps should be taken to make people aware demonetization. The DDC also suggested that it is important that banks would open a separate counter to address queries of customers.

He also asked banks to tighten their security in and around ATMs and banks. He said both must be sufficiently secured as people are coming in big numbers to booths and counters to either deposit or to exchange their old Rs 500, and Rs 1000 notes.

He added that it is important for all banks to refill the ATMs from time to time so that people do not face any difficulty in withdrawing their cash.

The DDC also impressed upon the officers of different departments to educate people of their respective areas. He said that people should be advised that they have ample time to deposit or to change their currency.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kumar also suggested putting up flexes in front of banks to spread awareness among people.
