Lal Singh distributes compensation among Dubb landslide victims

 

BASHOLI, Sep 11:Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh, Friday distributed compensation cheques worth Rs. 9.36 lakh under the State Disaster Relief Fund among the landslide hit families of Dubb Village in Basholi tehsil.

          District Development Commissioner Kathua, Romesh Kumar, Director Agriculture, Dr. S. S. Jamwal, Director Horticulture Anil Kumar Sharma, Mission Director NHM, Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare, Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, Chief Engineer R&B Mangi, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, S. Gurmukh Singh, Deputy Director Health Services Dr. Ajay Gupta besides other senior officers of PHE, R&B, PDD, Education, Health and RDD accompanied the Minister.

          The Minister, while addressing a gathering at Dhar Kahor village in Government Higher Secondary, informed that Government is planning to construct Water Sports Complex at Basholi town. In this regard, instructions have been issued to the revenue department for identification of land in the town so that the project could be started at the earliest.   

          Responding to the demand of Dhar Kahor Panchayat people, the Minister asked the Revenue department to prepare a list of those families whose land has been acquired by the government for public infrastructure. He directed R&B for upgradation and blacktopping of roads in Simmnay village, Pikkar village, Dhar Dungnoo and Dhar Jhanker.

          Regarding construction of new PHC building, Lal Singh said that Health Department has acquired 5 kanal land for construction of new primary health centre building at Dhar Jankhar village. He said that work on the hospital would be started soon. 

          Regarding improvement of drinking water facilities in Dhar Kahor and Dhar Jankhar village, Lal Singh asked the PHE department to dig a deep drill tube well and lay water supply pipes in the uncovered areas of the locality so that safe drinking water reaches the tail end of the villages also.

          For improving the power supply in the Dhar Kahor village and its adjoining areas, the Minister asked the Executive Engineer Power Development Department to install one new transformer in the village and also upgrade the existing infrastructure.      

          Earlier, Choudhary Lal Singh visited the Sub-District Hospital, Basholi and inspected the healthcare facilities being provided to the patients there.

The Minister cautioned that no laxity or carelessness will be tolerated when it comes to patient delivery system. He instructed for discouraging unnecessary referrals from rural to tertiary hospitals to avoid crowds. He called for equipping the district as well as rural hospitals properly to attend all types of patients except of serious nature which require specialized treatment in the tertiary centers. “The concerned doctors will have to give the reason for referring the particular patient to the higher institutions”, he ordered.

          The Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of BMO  Office and paramedical staff quarters. He asked the executing agency R&B to gear up their men and machinery to complete the complex within two months for which Government has released Rs. 1 crore.
