Excise department conduct raids, books wine shops for overcharging in Jammu

JAMMU, Sep 07:Excise department conduct raids, books wine shops for overchargingThe Excise Department, under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Executive, Jammu,  conducted extensive raids in district Rajouri to check overcharging by wine shops besides violation of regulations and guidelines by Bar operators. 

A team comprising Sub Inspector Manvinder Pal Singh, Sub Inspector Gulshan Kumar, Sub Inspector Udeyvir Singh, and others conducted the raids.

 During the raids, two wine shops namely m/s. M. S. Fulail Singh Wine Shop, Bus Stand Rajouri and M/s. Joginder Nath Virender Kumar Wine Shop, Jawahar Nagar, Rajouri, who were found over charging the customers were booked for violation of J&K Excise Act, 1958. 

Subsequently, all Bars in Rajouri town were also checked by the team. More than 204 Nips/Pints were recovered from these bars. 

Meanwhile, an inspection team headed by Excise and Taxation Officer, Kathua Excise Range, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, booked two wine shops namely M/s. Surjit Singh Wine Shop, HatliMorh and M/s. Balbir Singh Wine Shop, Nagri for overcharging the customers in district Kathua. 

The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to check overcharging by wine shops and violation of guidelines by the Bars.
