Forest hut to come up at Sankri Panchari

PANCHARI, Sep 01 - Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh announced establishment of a Forest hut at Sankri on the concluding day of historic three day Sankri mela at Panchari here today.

MLA Chenani, Dinanath Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Niraj Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Roshan Jaggi, Conservator East Circle Jammu, Naveen Shah, Joint Director Forest Protection Force, Khawaja Qamar Din, ACD Udhampur, Joginder Singh Rai besides DFOs of different wings of forest department and district and block officers attended the mela.

The last day of the mela concluded amidst religious fervor and gaiety with participation of a large number of devotees. The Minister paid obeisance at the temple and prayed for peace and prosperity of the state.

Students from different schools participated   in the cultural programs which were highly appreciated by the audience. Besides, education department in collaboration with District Youth Sports and Services organized a kabaddi match on the occasion.

Meanwhile, skits on' Beti Bachao Beti Padao 'and 'Anpadta' were also presented by the students while the traditional Kud dance depicting  rich Dogra culture was the main attraction of the program. The mela ended with an awareness program on various government schemes like Jan dhan yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padao etc.

During his visit to Panchari, the Minister directed the forest department to remove illegal encroachment from the forest land. He also asked them to take up plantation of various fruit and ornamental trees. He sought cooperation from the local people in increasing the green gold. He stressed upon the concerned authorities for plantation of deodar, chile, walnut and fruit trees in the area adding that there is a huge potential of horticulture in Panchari

On the occasion people of the area apprised the Minister of their problems and demanded blacktopping of various roads.

The MLA announced Rs.15 lakh for construction of shed at the mela site.

Later, the Minister felicitated the winners of different sports and cultural items.
