Lawyers hold protest demanding open entry in Courts

S. Sidartha Paramedical Training Institute, Sunjwan, Jammu

Jammu, October 17: The Action Committee of Advocates Bar Jammu, constituted by practicing advocates in High Court and Subordinate Courts in Jammu, held a day-long Dharna in District Courts Jammu to lodge protest against closure of entry for lawyers and general public in High Court and Subordinate Courts.

The lawyers demanded opening of all courts for physical entry to lawyers and public, resuming physical hearing, accepting hard copies of cases, opening of locked Bar Rooms of lawyers, providing stamp papers and tickets within court premises through stamp vendors, holding immediate election to J&K Bar Council etc.

Protesting lawyers termed the action of closing of entry to lawyers and litigant public in High Court and subordinate courts as unreasonable, unconstitutional and dictatorial particularly when all other institutions have been opened, buses plying, shopping malls, cinema halls, public parks, govt. offices etc have been made functional.

The virtual mode is an eye wash, particularly with 2G network. The height of apathy is that all facilities for lawyers like Bar Rooms, Canteen, Fruit shop, parking etc are closed causing unprecedented hardships to lawyers.
