Veeri, Zulfkar, Kohli inaugurate, lay foundation stone of bridges


 

         

RAJOURI, AUGUST 03- Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri along with Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali and Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli inaugurated alternate bridge near Abdullah Bridge and also laid foundation stone of two more motorable bridges at Rajouri.         

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rehman Veeri said that present government is fully devoted to carry forward the developmental mission of former Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. He said that prosperity of the state has remained main goal of Mufti Sayeed throughout his life and they will leave no stone unturned to realize his vision of steering state towards a progress and prosperity.

The Minister recalled the contribution of Mufti Sahib who envisioned development of the area as one of his priorities adding that Mughal Road and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University were few of the major initiatives in this regard.

Elaborating on measures being taken up to further streamline road network in the state, the Minister informed that Jammu and Kashmir  has received a funding of Rs 2800 crore under PMGSY to ensure connectivity in left out areas.         

Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali exhorted upon the people to come forward and avail the benefit of government schemes saying that the present government is committed for the socio economic transformation of the state. He said that government has taken up several mega developmental projects which have started yielding tangible results besides a number of new projects are in pipeline envisaging development and welfare of every nook and corner of the state. 

Highlighting some of major initiatives taken up in Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, Zulfkar said that, earlier, the state was getting only 7.5 MT of ration but it has now increased to 12 MT only in a short span of time. He said that implementation of National Food Security Act and Mufti Mohammad Food Entitlement Scheme besides steps for bringing in transparency and accountability in the department are some of the historic decisions taken up by the present dispensation.

Addressing on the occasion, Abdul Ghani Kohli said that the coalition Government has a mission of taking the state towards new dimensions of peace, progress and prosperity where every citizen live a peaceful and dignified life irrespective of caste, creed or colour. “We are marching fast towards this goal with an invigorating spirit and enthusiasm under the stewardship of Chief Minister”, he maintained.

Asserting that the centre and state governments are committed to fast track development of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir, he said special thrust is being laid on extending road connectivity to every nook and corner of the state. He also highlighted the achievements of government under different sectors in the district adding that several NABARD and CRF projects have been sanctioned for the district.         

Earlier, the Ministers accompanied by Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for Development of Paharies, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, MLA Qammer Choudhary and MLC   Vibodh Gupta, inaugurated 100 metre span bridge at Rajouri. The bridge will be constructed a cost of Rs 8 crore and will play a vital role in tackling the traffic problem in Rajouri town besides providing an alternate approach route to old bus stand and main town.         

The Ministers also laid foundation stone of 160 metre span bridge at Panj Peer and 80 metre  span bridge at  Vadant Ashram near MES store Rajouri which will further improve the transport facility in the region.   They also kicked off macadamization work on Thudi-Kothdhara road fulfilling a long pending demand of residents of Kothdhara.

Deputy Commissioner, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Chief Engineers PMGSY and PWD, Hameed Sheikh and Anil Mangi, Director Sheep Husbandry,  Dr Sant Ram and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
