DDC Kishtwar discusses District Convergence Plan under POSHAN ABHIYAN

KISHTWAR, JUNE 29: To discuss and finalize the modalities for the preparation of the District Convergence plan under POSHAN ABHIYAN, a meeting of District Convergence Plan Committee was convened by District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today, here in his office chamber.
The  meeting was attended by  Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Parihar; Joint director Planning, Mohd Iqbal; Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch; Chief Medical Officer, Dr R .S Manhas; Chief Education Officer, Dr Kuldeep Sharma; Assistant Director FCS&CA,  besides among other concerned officers  and officials .
Threadbare discussions were held and decisions were taken on the components which are to be prioritized under Convergence during this financial year 2020-21.
Program Officer, ICDS, Pawan Parihar briefed the meeting about the various Gaps and bottlenecks in the effective designing and implementation of the Convergence Plan under POSHAN ABHIYAN,
He said government accommodation, provisions for safe drinking water and child friendly toilet facility and dedicated Cooking facility is imperative for the effective functioning of Anganwari Centres.
While stressing upon the up-gradation and strengthening of the infrastructure of Anganwari Centres (AWC), the DDC asked to expeditiously complete the construction of 30 designated  buildings on identified lands in a stipulated time frame under MGNREGA for efficient functioning of Centres there.
It is pertinent to mention here that the work on   buildings for 8 AWC of the district under B2V phase II is already in progress.
He also sought a proposal from PO, ICDS for the procurement of water filters and the dedicated child friendly wash basins for these centres.
Stress was also laid to ensure LPG cylinders and smokeless chulas in all centres.
The DDC also directed the AD Food Civil Supplies and consumer Affairs to supply the food grains on time and also ensure the testing of the quality of ration.
He further directed chief Medical Officer to track the health status of mother and child by conducting regular and periodical health checkups.
A database of all such health checkups should invariably be kept for analysis and future course of action, he added.
The DDC impressed upon all concerned departments to chalk out the Convergence plan under this Abhiyan for ensuring the 100 percent enrollment of adolescent girls and Lactating mothers so that their supplementary nutritional needs are fulfilled.
Furthermore, he directed the CEO to take concrete steps to ensure that the Sanitary Napkins Vending machines are installed at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Kishtwar and in all the high schools, besides lectures and awareness programmes for female students regarding their health and hygiene are made a routine exercise.
The ADC was asked to ensure effective monitoring of the working of Anganwari Centres.
The DDC also highlighted the importance of online assessment of the performance of the Scheme based upon certain area specific and condition specific indicators.
For achieving the goal as envisaged under POSHAN ABHIYAN, the DDC laid stress upon conducting Capacity building workshops and training programs for BDOs, Supervisors, Anganwari and ASHA workers at Block and Panchayat levels.
DDC also emphasized on the role of PRIs and religious leaders in the effective implementation of the POSHAN ABHIYAN and other schemes of ICDS.
