SRINAGAR, JULY 23: Prof. Rajat Gupta, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, called on Mr. N.N. Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
Prof. Gupta briefed the Governor about the ongoing academic programmes at the NIT and the existing infrastructural and other gaps which need to be filled early for making the NIT a centre of excellence.
The Governor stressed the need to ensure that the total number of research projects undertaken by the Institute should include a certain percentage which are aimed at finding practical solutions to identified problems faced in the State. In this context the Governor referred to the serious challenges which are being faced in the arena of school education, power generation, potable water, stagnant agriculture, horticulture and varied other fields.
