More than 100 People rescued in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 9: District Administration, Srinagar along with Police rescued 37 stranded nomadic families in Tehsil Panthachowk in the wake of heavy snowfall. These families were provided accommodation at Panthachowk apart from blankets, ration and assistance for basic needs. The nomadic families along with livestock were on way to Poonch district. Tehsildar Panthachowk Younis Bangroo under the supervision of SDM East Sandeep Singh Bali provided the assistance on behalf of district administration.

At least 12 members of 2 families residing in a houseboat in River Jhelum were rescued with timely intervention of authorities. The houseboat owned by the families sank this evening due to imbalance leaving the families in distress.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary along with senior officers from departments, members of flood control, SDRF and police reached the spot. The rescued families were provided accommodation in local hotel. A team headed by Tehsildar South along with SHO Kothibagh shifted the families to hotel and provided financial assistance, blankets and ration.

District Administration, Srinagar provided assistance to 11 families whose houses were damaged in two separate fire incidents in Srinagar. Three houses were partially damage in Habbak area of Ganpatyar where local administration provided financial assistance, kitchen sets and blankets. In another fire incidents 8 families suffered losses in Tibetian Colony all the families were provided timely assistance and relief. It is pertinent to mention that fire and emergency services department responded immediately to control the fire in both incidents.
