SAMBA, JUNE 4 - Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga today felicitated the meritorious students of Government Higher Secondary School, Smailpur for their outstanding performance in recently declared class XII results.
Around 16 students of the school secured distinctions and 25 others got first divisions in the class 12 exams for 2015-16 academic session.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the state government is committed to provide quality education to the students and all the schools in the state would be equipped with modern IT enabled education facilities for ensuring 100% results.
The Minister further said the government has launched many scholarships and other schemes for girl and poor students to enable them to get higher education.
The Minister called upon the youth to go for skill development to grab better job opportunities. “The Government has launched various skill development programmes for increasing employability and you should avail this opportunity” he asked the students.
He also called upon the teachers to encourage students for availing skill development opportunities for their bright future.
The Minister also inspected the school premises and asked the management to maintain standards of education in the school.
Later, the Minister also inaugurated newly upgraded Receiving Station, Smailpur and launched construction work of bridge on Smailpur-Patti road. The 40m span bridge to be constructed at the cost of Rs 5 crore would provide connectivity to various villages including Smailpur.
The Minister also inaugurated newly constructed Khajuria Mohalla-Patti Dera road completed at a cost of Rs 5 lakh.
Interacting with the locals, the Minister said that the state government is working relentlessly for providing basic amenities to the people of the state and top priority is being given to improvement of power scenario, augmentation of drinking water supply and road connectivity.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba Sheetal Nanda, SDM Vijaypur Ravinder Sharma and officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
