Dy CM distributes cheque under Special Central Assistance at Dayala Chak

KATHUA, JUNE 4:-Maintaining that people should strive to create diverse employment opportunities by opening small ventures under Handicrafts, Handloom, Fisheries, Poultry and Dairy for which government departments are offering many schemes, the Deputy Chief Minister said that by doing so they would be creating job avenues for themselves as well youth, besides contributing their bit in improving the economic profile of the state         

Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at   a function organized by Animal Husbandry Department Kathua at Dayala Chak for providing financial assistance under Special Central Assistance (SCA) to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP).

Financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each was provided to 59 persons of Billawar under the scheme having objective of giving thrust to family oriented scheme of economic development of SCs below the poverty line, by providing resources for filling the critical gaps and by analyzing upon the local occupational pattern and the economic activities available.         

Dr Singh said that the present dispensation is very keen to empower youth of the state to make them useful human resource, so that they can contribute in the multidimensional growth of the state. He further added that the financial assistance provided by the Animal husbandry department was specially meant for the purchase for livestock and should be used judiciously. He further directed the PDD officers to minimize the unscheduled power cuts to minimize the woes of people during hit hot summers.         

Earlier, the locals projected issues of scarcity of drinking water, low voltage,   road connectivity and provision of veterinary hospital in the area.\         

Responding to the demands, Dr Nirmal Singh said that the present dispensation is working for strengthening of developmental infrastructure in the hilly, Kandi and remote areas to improve the living standard of the rural masses. He said Billawar area has great potential of becoming a major tourist destination and every possible step would be taken to showcase it on the state’s tourist map.

Rolling out the development plan for the area, the Minister said that new Water Supply Schemes and road projects will be taken up very shortly. “ Dayala Chack- Challan road, 100 bedded hospital, Pharmacy School, Juthana Bridge, KV School and establishment of Brigade Head quarter in Billawar are among the important projects which will be taken up in coming times ” he said.

Dr. Singh said that the efforts will be made to strengthen tourism infrastructure in the area by developing water sports, view points and other wayside amenities near Ranjit Sagar Dam to attract more tourists. He said such initiatives will boast economic activity in the area and provide employment to the locals. He directed all the officers present to redress the people’s problems on priority by adopting proactive approach and called for people`s cooperation for corruption free and responsible governance.         

The Deputy Chief Minister assured the locals that in the coming time 200MW additional power will be supplied to mitigate the power crisis in the area and he will soon take a review of various decisions taken during previous public grievance redressal camp to make these exercise pro people and result oriented.         

On the occasion DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar , SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal , Exn PDD , Exn R&B , Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kathua , Dr. Surjit Kumar , Live Stock Development Officer Kathua , Dr. S P Verma and Dr. Jagdish Raj, Panchs , Sarpanchs and people from  Madoon, Plaea, Deho, Sallaha, Kanta, Katli and Began area were present.
