Crime Branch Presents Challan Against Wine Shop Owner , Patwari & 6 Others

JAMMU, May 14: Crime Branch Jammu presented challan in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against Eight  for causing loss to the tune of Rs 65.70 lakh to UCO Bank, Railway Road.

The  accused are Ram Lal Gupta, Proprietor of M/s Prince Wine and General Store, his sons Gourav Gupta and Munish Gupta, Padam Singh Choudhary, the then Manager UCO Bank, Bashir Ahmed the then Patwari Halqa Birpur and now Naib Tehsildar , Bansi Lal, Riyaz Hussain and Javed Ahmed.

A written complaint was lodged by A J Patel Zonal Manger, UCO Bank, Zonal Office, New Delhi alleging therein that loan limits were sanctioned by UCO Bank Railway Road, Jammu in favour of Ram Lal Gupta, Proprietor of M/s Prince Wine and General Store, Gourav Gupta, Proprietor M/s Gourav Agencies at Shivalik Puram Janipur and Sadashiv Puri, Director M/s Millennium Econometrics Research Publication Pvt Ltd at Gandhi Nagar against stocks and personal guarantee of Kabla Singh, son of Sansar Singh of Birpur Samba.

Thereafter, accounts of all the three concerns became Non Performing Assets (NPA) and securitization notices were sent to Kabla Singh, who stood guarantor for the loans availed by these concerns for recovery of the loan amount. But Kabla Singh denied having given any guarantee or mortgaged his land in favour of UCO Bank to secure the advances of the bank as he was illiterate and blind. However, the records of the UCO Bank showed that Kabla Singh had signed the documents in English.

On the receipt of this complaint, an enquiry was initiated in Crime Branch and it came to the fore that Ram Lal Gupta, Gourav Gupta and M Sadashiv Puri had in connivance with the officials of the UCO Bank as well as the Revenue officials mortgaged land of Kabla Singh in favour of bank by preparing forged and fictitious documents without his knowledge.
