Dr. Ambedkar worked for women empowerment: Priya Sethi

JAMMU, APRIL 14 – While underlining the role of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar in empowering women in India, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi said that Dr. Ambedkar was a champion of women rights who worked for giving equal rights to the women and fought for ensuring that basic rights are ensured to the females.

She said the Dr. Ambedkar linked progress of community and society with the degree of progress achieved by the women folk of that society.

Priya was speaking at a function organised on the 125th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratan Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Ved Mandir, here today. She was chief guest at the function. 

Highlighting the role of government agencies in women empowerment, the Minister said that special focus is being given to ensure all round development of the women and the state as well as the central government is working in mission mode to ensure holistic empowerment of women.

She said that the government is working to check declining sex ratio and women as well as children get the required health and medical attention, adding that special economic packages are also being extended to the women for ensuring their financial empowerment.

“Women have proved their worth in every field, may it be education, science and technology, engineering, law and every other field in which she has entered,” she added.
