JAMMU, April 14: An impressive function was held by the Congress party here today, as part of culmination of year long 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Bhem Rao Ambedkar.
The President JKPCC Shri G.A. Mir was Chief Guest in the celebrations organized by the JKPCC 125th year Dr. Ambedkar Celebration Committee under the chairmanship of Former Minister & Vice President Shri Mula Ram. All prominent leaders of the party were present on the occasion and paid tributes including Sham Lal Sharma- Senior Vice President , Tara Chand – former Dy Chief Minister, Jahangir Mir, Aijaz Ahmed Khan(Dy CLP Leader ) Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Asgar Karbalai(MLA), Ch. Akram (MLA), Swarn Lata, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Balwan Singh, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Manjit Singh, Shah Mohd Choudhary, S. S. Channi, Faqir Nath, Manmohan Singh, Indu Pawar, G.L. Chalotra, Ashok Dogra, Ghulam Raza, Shiv Dev Singh, Prakash Sharma, Anil Chopra, Maheshwar Singh, Hari Singh Chib, K.L. Gupta, Murtaza Khan, Shiv Kumar Sharma, B.S. Sambyal, Pranav Shagotra, Roop Lal Bharti, Neeraj Kundan, Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina, Ashwani Puri, , Udhey Bhan Singh Chib, Gurdarshan Singh, Pankaj Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma, Kulbir Singh, Kanwal Singh, Kapil Singh, Naresh Sharma, , Chaman Jain, Dr. R.K. Khajuria besides other prominent leaders of PCC, DCC,Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI and Seva Dal.
Addressing the large gathering in the premises of Jambulochan Hall, PCC Chief G.A. Mir paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and remembered his great contributions in the framing of the Indian Constitution as Chairman of its drafting Committee and described him as the architect of Constitution of India, which is the best document in the World. He remembered his great contributions in the freedom struggle and more particularly in fighting the cause of deprived and oppressed classes in order to bring about equality and social justice.
He said that Dr. Ambedkar was a man of great commitment and highest standards of knowledge and brought about the social transformation in the Indian society in order to bring about unity in diversity, which is basic strength of the Country and basic ideas of India, always promoted by the Congress party.
Mr. Mir offered a pledge on the occasion to the gathering, which he described as a true and sincere tribute to the father of Indian Constitution. Mr. Mir lashed out those forces who are opposed to the philosophy of Dr. Abbedkar but now try to indentify themselves with his birth anniversary celebrations for political vested interests. He said it was Congress party under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru who valued the philosophy of Dr. Ambedkar and utilized his services for the nation by offering him opportunity to head the Constitution Drafting Committee besides as first Law Minister of free India.
Taking dig at Modi Goovt and BJP Mr. Mir said that those who are showing least respect to the democratic values and the Constitution, by arbitrary and undemocratic removal of duly elected opposition Congress ruled states, can’t be followers of Dr. Ambedkar and his Constitution.
Mr. Mir said that it is Congress party which has implemented the philosophy and concept of Dr. Ambedkar by giving representation and reservation to the SCs/STs/women in the various democratic institution including in Panchayat Raj. He referred to the implementation of 73rd and 74th amendment in the Constitution as extending of same principle & philosophy in the basic democratic institutions in the Country and State and demanded holding of early elections to the PRIS in the State.
Shri Sham Lal Sharma in his address paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar and said that his philosophy needs to be understood and implement in the right spirit in order to bring about harmony and togetherness in the society. He felt the need to educate the masses about the role of Dr. Ambedkar and Congress party in order to win back the support of weaker sections towards Congress.
Shri Tara Chand Former Dy. Chief Minister in his address recalled the steps taken by the Congress party to follow the philosophy & ideals of Dr. Ambedkar. He referred to maintaining reservation for SC in all parts of the state during Congress-NC rule whereby the SCs are availing the reservation in all districts of the state. He also referred to the 73rd and 74th amendment which provided reservation to women, SCs and STs at all levels and all tiers of Panchayat Raj in the State. He lashed out at the caste based political parties who exploited the down trodden sections away from the Congress party and asked them to strengthen Congress party which is the real messiah of the down trodden sections of the society.
Chairman of the Celebration Committee Shri Mula Ram made a detailed mention of the life and contribution of Dr. Ambedkrar for the Indian society especially the weaker sections and paid rich tributes to him for his remarkable struggle for the cause of deprived sections. He referred to the role of the Congress party to value his philosophy and implement his ideas for the upliftment and provide adequate opportunities to the down trodden and weaker sections in every sphere of life. He criticized the role of certain forces who are opposed to his ideas of India and asked the people to strengthen Congress party and strengthen the ideas of Dr. Ambedkar.
