Jammu, Sep 27: Demanding hike in passenger fare, the transporters here announced to observe Chakka Jam in entire Jammu region on October 1.
No vehicle, truck, bus, load carrier shall ply in Jammu on October 1 from Lakhanpur to Poonch to Banihal to Kishtwar to Basohli if our demands are not met,” president All Jammu and Kashmir Transporters Association (Jammu), TS Wazir told reporters here.
The transporters are demanding 15-20% hike in passenger fare and end to “unnecessary harassment” at the hands of traffic police officials and RTO Jammu office.
Wazir appealed Governor SP Malik to personally intervene into the matter and initiate strict action against the RTO Jammu and traffic officials.
He also urged upon the Governor to review the passenger fares as soon as possible to give some relax to the agitating transporters.
